Final Days.

Last year we hoped to end our trip in the Adirondacks and visit Lake Placid. We were thwarted by the weather and hurried home in some cold weather. This year we once again planned to spend the final days of the trip in Lake Placid and enjoy some more mountain riding. Once again this plan did not pan out, with frost advisories for the Adirondacks, we decided that we had better point our wheels towards home.

On Wednesday we headed to Watkins Glen, NY taking a scenic route through Pennsylvania. It ended up being a very long day under very cloudy skies and finally we caught up to the rain which had been ahead of us all day. We rolled through Watkins Glen at Dusk and noticed the power was out. Thankfully our motel, just a little ways out of town had power - just as well as we were pretty cold by the time we got in.

Thursday saw us heading to Saratoga Springs, NY. A much nicer day but now quite cold with temps not reaching above 60 degrees. Thank goodness for heated gear!! We had a lovely stay in Saratoga Springs and enjoyed a nice meal out - our last Hurrah!

We left Saratoga Springs fairly early on Friday and once again temperatures remained steadfastly in the 50's. We had a lovely ride through Vermont and New Hampshire and enjoyed some spectacular fall color. We arrived home safe and sound in the early evening. All was good at home and we are very grateful to have had another safe and amazing trip, enjoying all that this great country has to offer. Once again our trusty Harley's never missed a beat and we enjoyed every mile we rode.

Stats for the trip:
Total Days: 42
