Day 3. To St. Ignace, Michigan

KSU: 07:04
Distance travelled: 327 Miles   Total Mileage: 972
Moving time: 6hrs.  Moving Av: 55 mph

We can never quite seem to get going by 7 o'clock but did the best yet this morning - I guess we are getting the hang of things. There is always a fair amount of faffing about packing up the bikes, checking routes and checking the weather. Today we were certain we were going to get rained on after checking the weather radar and the forecasts. So we left (almost on time) and headed back onto Route 17, Trans-Canada Highway, bound for St. Ignace, Michigan.

This is our route on Google Earth. Traffic was virtually nonexistent the whole way and apart from some road works it was plain sailing and we made great progress. Mindful of the forecast for rain in St. Ignace in the afternoon we only stopped briefly for breakfast.
We made it to the US border and quickly crossed back into USA. The lines going the other way were horrendous so we felt lucky. We had hoped to stop in Sault Saint Marie to look at the locks but decided to press on. We found our hotel right on the banks of Lake Huron - a very pretty spot. Our room is 2 steps from the beach - wonderful. Oh....and so far it has not rained!

We have just got back from supper at a nice local restaurant. we had some of the best fish and chips ever - and that is saying something coming from a Brit! To bed early again tonight.
