One of the last high passes in Nevada
Before we knew it we said goodbye to Nevada:
and hello Utah!
We continued along the loneliest road some more:
Tom is getting better at shots on the fly!
So lonely we can park the bikes in the road for photo ops.
Gradually, the scenery changes, as do the smells of the countryside. This is why we love traveling on the bikes - we are truly immersed in our surroundings.
We refueled in the tiny town of Delta. It would be very easy to run out of gas out here as it is often 100 or more miles between services. Luckily there was a small diner next to the gas station and we popped in for a late breakfast of excellent bacon and eggs complete with blueberry toast and homemade jams - delicious. Once we hopped back on the bikes we noticed the skies getting darker and definite rain storms ahead. We donned our rain gear and followed our planned route which, amazingly enough, weaved us around the worst of it. We did catch a bit of rain but nothing too bad and most of our riding was dry. Eventually, we pulled into the lovely town of Torrey, Utah, where we easily found our motel for the night:
This place is lovely and we are on the doorstep of several of Utah's National Parks. The views from our room are amazing - we can't wait to go exploring tomorrow if the weather allows.
The rain clouds are rolling in and I can hear thunder as I type this - we got in just in time! Tom is out running!!!
