Day 32. Capitol Reef National Park

Today I developed a new respect for the earth's crust.

We rode a short distance to Capitol Reef National Park, so named by early explorers who, as they were seamen, called anything that provided an obstacle to their passage a "reef". The white domes of some of the rock formations apparently reminded them of Capitol buildings they were familiar with.

Even though it was a bit cloudy nothing could detract from the incredible rock formations and sights. The drive through it all was, once again, spectacular and we had a wonderful day just soaking it all in.

We even got to see petroglyphs - made by ancient Indian dwellers 1,000 years ago
Close up of same:
We picked apples and pears from ancient orchards planted by early Mormon settlers 200 years ago
Then rode some more through the canyons and "reefs"

Until, eventually we turned the bikes back towards base camp in Torrey
and had a lovely cup of coffee here, before returning to our motel for a soak in the Hot Tub!

Life is good!
