We reluctantly left Torrey and the Broken Spur having had a good stay there. We headed off down Route 12, Utah's First All American Highway of which they are very proud and rightfully so. We were early and we are always mindful of four legged creatures out on the roads first thing and sure enough my heart missed a beat when Tom announced "Oh Bear"!!! Thankfully it turned out to be a loose young cow standing in a ditch ....and it did look like a bear until it ran off. We subsequently dodged a lot more cows, calves and bulls for the next hour or so.
After a lot of stops at scenic overlooks - where, once again, we gasped at the scenery, we arrived at Bryce Canyon National Park. We parked the bikes and set off on a hike down the canyon - just incredible and another instance where photos cannot do it justice - but here's a try:
Somehow I made it into and out of the canyon - exhausted but thrilled by the experience. Then, back on the bikes and another 80 miles of riding to get to Kanab, UT. We are now bunked up in a lovely retro motel. Tired but happy!
Hi Tom & Vicky,
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to come up with more & different superlatives for the pics. Just wonderful to see. The sky is so blue with the low humidity out there. Hope you eventually upload them all to Shutterfly or some such. Thank you so, so much for the post cards. The girls squeal when they see them in the mailbox.
Love,
Jim
