Nothing bought and we were soon back on the road. We meandered along the west side of Flathead Lake and across the Flathead Valley. We then pointed west and left the Rockies behind. We travelled along a river valley for most of the day, following the Flathead River first of all and then the Clark Fork River. It was a beautiful day and the scenery was incredible. We love Montana!
We saw a lot of wildlife today. First of all traffic was brought to an abrupt halt by a marauding bull that was on the side of the road and behaving decidedly "frisky". Thankfully, a man, presumably the owner of said Bull arrived and with the help of a couple of motorists managed to herd it back into it's field - rather them than me! We also saw quite a few mule deer jumping across the road, always a little heart-stopping when you are traveling at 65 + mph. The highlight though was seeing a small Big Horn sheep at the side of the road.
We found a very picturesque spot for lunch on the banks of Clark Fork River:
Then it was back on the road, across the Bitterroot Range and into Idaho, where we gained an hour. We are now on Pacific Time!
We are now tucked up at the Flamingo Motel in Coeur D'alene, Idaho.
This is a lovely town, with a beautiful park along a large lake, aptly named Coeur D'alene Lake. We went out for dinner, Tom found his happy place - 50 craft beers on tap!
Trip mileage: 242. Odometer: 3117
I bet Tom was a little disappointed- 50 beers and no one to play ping-pong with. LOL
