The scenery is changing and we are riding through wide open spaces. There are lots of lakes in Minnesota and the people seem very happy! Very welcoming and everyone is smiling. We were pleased to find a great coffee shop in Grand Forks, MN.
Much of our route ran parallel to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railway. Occasionally our paths crossed and we had to wait for the train. Sometimes we ran along next to a train although usually we were traveling faster!
We crossed the not so mighty Mississippi River near Bemidji, in fact it was downright disappointing having been much more impressive when we crossed it further South in Iowa a few years ago. But it turns out that the headwaters of the Mississippi are found in Minnesota and start as a knee deep stretch of water about 18 feet wide.
We found a peaceful spot for our picnic lunch.
The quiet roads made for some good photo ops.
As usual we are tucked up early, ready for an good nights sleep.

You're making great progress! Loved the murals and the fish(!) in Ashland.

Hi Jim, thanks for your comments. It reminds me of my good old Dad who always chimed in with a comment on my blog, just to remind me he was there! Love to you, Bonnie & the girls XXX
